Our Journey to Opening

Is there a cost for your services?

No. All of our programs and services are provided free of charge to eligible participants.

Do I have to be in foster care to be placed in the maternity home?

Yes. Youth must be in foster care to be placed in the Born for Nia Maternity Home. All placements are coordinated through DPSS Central Placement Unit (CPU) or probation.

Can I bring my baby to Born for Nia Maternity Home?

Yes! If you are already parenting, you and your baby can live at Born for Nia together.

How long can I stay in the program?

Program length varies based on individual needs and goals. Home visiting services continue through pregnancy and up to one year postpartum. For residents at the Born for Nia Maternity Home, babies are able to remain with their mothers through the age of 2, allowing for continued bonding, stability, and early childhood development support. Residential length of stay is determined based on each youth’s placement plan and progress.
